Regenerative Society Conferences & Events

As part of our outreach to a wider audience and intention to deepen public conversation regionally and nationally, we will offer an occasional Regenerative Society conference or event.  These will explore themes of regenerative society, community, and leadership from both new and ancient perspectives.  Various forms of media will also allow us to share the themes of these programs through our website and other avenues.

As with our other program formats, Regenerative Society conferences or events can be linked with a companion format – a Regenerative Leadership retreat or a Regenerative Community workshop or discussion.

In Progress:

Our first Regenerative Society Conference, Into Eden: Cultivating Regenerative Soils, Souls and Society, will be linked to an upcoming documentary titled Into Eden, currently in production by Leila Conners.

Conners’ previous documentary film, The 11th Hour with Leonardo DiCapprio, explores how humanity has arrived at this fragile moment and what we can do to change our course. At the close of The 11th Hour, Wes Jackson comments on the patterns to our human problems and their underlying source and solutions by saying, “They are all an outward mirror of an inner condition.”  We cannot solve the outward patterns to our problems by ignoring our inner condition that produced them. Taking that cue, the film Into Eden is an exploration of that inner territory, since the journey towards Eden is not just an outward journey but also an inward journey.

The conference we’re developing will explore parallel themes, including one at the core of our mission at CRS: the cultivation of a regenerative society within and around us.  Twenty-four attending writers, thinkers and doers will contribute to the conference discussion and to interviews conducted by Conners.

Outcomes of this conference will include attendee film interviews, a published book of essays by attendees (submitted in advance), and enriched learning resources on these themes on our website.
