Dear Corridor Leader,

Autumn: Seeds of Self, Vocation and Purpose
In recent conversations with many of you, we’ve heard it said that a healthy, strong, and growing community is built on authentic relationships and meaningful social networks that can help accelerate the creation of sustainable communities.  You’ve also noted that building a community like this requires some serious interior work to discern our authentic selves and then to align ourselves with others in order to face the adaptive challenges and opportunities ahead of us as a region. As one Corridor Leader quipped, “Unfortunately…there’s no app for that!  We actually need to do some face-to-face work with each other.”  That opportunity now awaits you!

Winter: Dark Nights and Still Waters of Renewal
In every community, organization and profession, there are leaders like you whose contributions are absolutely essential in our collective work for a better world.  You – and all the others — are pioneering social innovations and inspiring us to reshape the moral purposes of the institutions through which we all live so we are ready for the emerging future.

Imagine what it would be like to enable more leaders at every level to discover and unleash their own deepest desires and power to make our world a better place.  Imagine a leadership experience in which the self-discovery and actualization of individual leaders — and the organizations and communities they serve — would be nurtured through reflective learning experiences intended to radically expand their sense of what is possible.

That’s exactly what awaits you and other Corridor Leaders this Autumn as the Center for Regenerative Society launches its yearlong Regenerative Leadership program for 24-30 mid-career and next generation leaders like you!

Participating in a yearlong Regenerative Leadership program helps us

  • Cultivate our inner life and capacity to live and lead from within,
  • Listen and respond to what is emerging within us and also in the world around us, and
  • Increase our effectiveness as social change and innovation leaders who are transforming our organizations, communities, and sectors.

Spring: Powers of Creation and Co-creation
As your Regenerative Leadership retreat facilitators, we are committed to providing leaders with a high quality program, and a leadership formation and renewal experience that creates a powerful learning community and a long wave of benefits, not only personal and professional but also community benefits.  We are passionate about this work, and to it we bring decades of experience in revitalizing both communities and leaders from the inside out, and in coaching leaders for social innovation and transformation.

Summer: Living Into Abundance and Community

We also believe leadership can and should reflect the diverse communities and organizations in which we live and work.  We are therefore committed to making this unique cross-sector opportunity available to as many leaders as possible.  Program tuition, room and board have already been set to a sliding scale to ensure equal access to individuals from institutions of all sizes.  The vital support of foundations, businesses, and individual donors has also made a Scholarship Fund available, enabling CRS to underwrite some of the tuition, room and board for eligible leaders whose sponsoring organizations have limited budgets and support, and for those who must independently fund and raise their own support.  Read more below to see if you are eligible:

Have you been waiting for this opportunity?  As another Creative Corridor leader suggests, “If you’re ready to take a risk, this program offers support for personal growth, organizational leadership, and community building.”

Who is this Regenerative Leadership program for?

This yearlong multi-sector program is for Creative Corridor leaders in the business, nonprofit and civic sectors who are in a position of helping lead a team, division, organization, or company, including those in staff or board roles with leadership responsibilities for programs or people.

If you have an interest in learning and strengthening individual, work-based, and/or community-based effectiveness and impact, this program is for you, whether you are engaged in education, business, finance, government, health, science and technology, religion, the arts, law, philanthropy, the media, or community service/organizing.

The “Creative Corridor” includes the following communities: Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Coralville, North Liberty, Marion Hiawatha, Solon, Mt. Vernon, Swisher, West Branch, Vinton, Washington, Kalona, Williamsburg, Marengo, The Amanas, Tiffin, Oxford, Fairfax, Walford, Center Point, Anamosa, and those living in their rural unincorporated areas.

What other Corridor leaders are saying:

  • “We are more likely to innovate when we come from a position of confidence in ourselves and in the support we have in the community.  A network of strong authentic relationships will accelerate creativity.” – College President
  • “One needs inner encouragement as well as encouragement from peers.  Innovation comes from people recognizing their inner strengths and having the courage to act on these ideas and dreams.” – Consultant and former Rockwell employee
  • “A yearlong Regenerative Leadership program offers an organized model for personal and social transformation.  Connecting and building relationships long after workshops have ended would also be a fundamental shift.” – Mental health care professional
  • “If I am going to invest my personal time and fund my own attendance, I want the mountaintop possibility.  I feel very strongly that part of the transformation will result from the model presented.  It would certainly impact my organization and my community.” – Foundation program officer
  • “Developing authentic relationships, deeper conversations, and real trust takes time but leads to stronger mutual support and cross-sector creativity that can be really productive.” – Management consultant

Your Program Facilitators:

Benjamin Webb, director of the Center for Regenerative Society and an Iowa native, spent the first dozen years of his working life focusing on wicked problems, alternative futures, and social change through the pathways of journalism, public policy, economic development and community organizing.  After digging a little deeper in himself through a mid-career round of graduate studies and degrees, Ben has since devoted the last twenty years of his life to building and revitalizing communities of faith and practice from within,  preparing mid-career and next generation leaders to better cope with adaptive challenges, and cultivating inner life as the greatest source of identity, creativity and courage.  Ben really enjoys mentoring others at the growing edges of their life and leadership.  In founding the Center for Regenerative Society (his fourth nonprofit startup venture) and shaping its programs, Ben consulted nationally with colleagues and peers on both coasts who direct centers and institutes that share some affinity for our work in an effort to incorporate best practices into our regionally based leadership renewal programs.  See Ben’s longer bio narrative here and here.

Stephanie Clohesy.  As an executive in national and international organizations, Stephanie has been a leader in public policy, systemic social change, civic engagement, philanthropy and human rights issues, including rebuilding civic structures in post-disaster and post-conflict situations.  Since 1993 she has owned her own consulting practice, providing counsel and guidance in strategic decisionmaking and planning, scanning/mapping research, program design, organizational development and structure, team performance and leadership development for high-impact results and social change.  Within her consulting she coaches and mentors individual high networth donors; organizational executives, staff and board in corporate, family and public foundations, nonprofit organizations, new for-profit companies and cross-sectoral hybrids. Clients come to Clohesy Consulting to “get clear,” get organized, create a map for growth and to increase impact for serious change.  Go towww.clohesyconsulting.com for more details about Stephanie and her projects, clients, publications, and presentations.
