Regenerative Leadership Retreats

morning session

Designed and hosted by the Center for Regenerative Society

naomi, venice, hannah, gunnarOur Regenerative Leadership retreats are designed to link the active life to the contemplative life, instilling hope in the face of adversity and helping us lead lives of commitment in a complex world. We help our participants reach down into themselves to summon the values, behaviors and forms of awareness than can offer healing of the “one wound” we’re all ultimately trying to address.

  • Participants are selected through nomination and application.
  • A retreat cohort consists of 12-24 leaders at a time.
  • Retreats are 2-4 days in length.
  • Groups may consist of leaders from within one field or issue area, or leaders from many fields.
  • We also design custom programs tailored to individual organizations.

Each such program is partly shaped around a special guest of national stature who both attends the private retreat and generates broader civic engagement through avenues like a public program on a college or university stage, town hall discussions in the region’s smaller communities, public radio interviews, and online learning resources like podcasts and videos.

We design our Regenerative Leadership Retreats to:

  • photo by Hannah McCargar Be both personally and professionally rewarding.
  • Form a community of leaders who feel valued, supported, affirmed and safe enough to explore big questions together and engage their minds and hearts at the growing edges of their leadership.
  • Serve a cohort that is intergenerational, ethnically diverse and gender balanced, including both mid-career and next-generation leaders.
  • Use poetry, stories, personal experiences, and adaptive and collaborative leadership concepts to help leaders reflect anew on what they’re doing and why it matters, sparking discussion in large and small group dialogs.
  • Provide ample time for solitude, rest, renewal, and fresh air – allowing participants to reconnect with what sustains them, both physically and spiritually.
  • Include a special guest of some national stature whose life, work and experiences inspire our participants and bring a rich and seasoned perspective to the group.
  • Offer contemplative practices that can help us live and lead from within amidst the cacophony of voices that clamor for our attention.
  • Draw upon the powers and character of nature’s seasons to inform the cycles and rhythms of our own leadership.
